As Hispanic Heritage Month is coming to an end, NASD looks to celebrate its Hispanic students and their excellence. There are two student groups: Raíces Encontradas and UNIDAD (Latino Leadership Club). Raíces Encontradas’s mission is to “Provide support to young Latino students and create opportunities to explore future goals such as college, trade schools and career paths. The program also has a service learning component with a commitment to giving back to the community through peer mentoring and leadership events.” Candidates must be Latino young men who show promise academically, through strong character or both. All candidates must complete an application process, and have the written approval of a parent or guardian to participate. UNIDAD’s mission is to “Foster unity among Latino students, develop leadership skills, promote cultural pride and awareness, provide school/community service and encourage the motivation for higher education.”

Project Lead The Way (PLTW) students in Mr. Chapin’s Civil Engineering course at NAHS created models using found materials to demonstrate distinct features and characteristics of a building's architectural design.

Hispanic Heritage Month is still underway. NASD is proud to have such a diverse community. We strive to keep our community connected and to provide resources for our community. We have a team of bilingual community liaisons that are in every NASD building. If you need support, they are here to help.
