One session in particular brought together K-12 Classroom and English Language Development Teachers for a powerful session on collaborative teaching practices. Led by Dr. Joan Lachance from UNC Charlotte, the training focused on strategies to support our multilingual learners (MLs). Dr. Kristin Larsen, NASD Supervisor of English Language Development, said, “These sessions got the conversation going and planted the seeds for collaborative teaching for MLs to take root this school year. As a district, we’re emphasizing the importance of shared responsibility for ML student success. We know collaborative teaching is good for all students, but it's essential for MLs.”
