Mrs. Tiarra Thomas brings a wealth of experience and creativity to her role as she joined Norristown Area School District last month as the new Assistant Director of Food Services.
After earning her Specialized Baking and Pastry degree from the Pennsylvania Culinary Institute in Pittsburgh, PA, Mrs. Thomas began her career at Willow Valley Retirement Community. There, she honed her skills and discovered her passion for creating exceptional dining experiences. Transitioning into healthcare food service, she worked in hospitals and long- and short-term care facilities, leading kitchen teams to provide quality meals for patients and residents during their recovery.
Even as an Executive Chef and Director, Mrs. Thomas stayed true to her love of baking, incorporating scratch-made pastries and baked goods into catering menus and events. Her ability to blend culinary artistry with leadership makes her a valuable addition to the district's food services team.
When asked what excites her most about joining NASD, Mrs. Thomas highlighted the district’s commitment to students. “I’m happy to see that, as a whole, the district really focuses on giving students a safe and enjoyable learning experience and making sure they are valued and heard,” she said.
Mrs. Thomas also plans to connect with students, parents, staff, and the community through food. “If I like you, I feed you,” she shared with a smile. She believes in actively listening to feedback and working to find solutions that make the food service experience enjoyable for everyone.
Outside of work, Mrs. Thomas runs a small baking business and spends her free time crafting, listening to music and podcasts, or relaxing with her husband and two dogs. She also enjoys working out and indulging in all things spooky, including scary movies.
We are so excited to welcome Mrs. Thomas to our district leadership team. Please join us in welcoming Mrs. Tiarra Thomas to the NASD family!
