Malikah Upchurch

Last week, Mrs. Malikah Upchurch joined the Norristown Area School District as our new Supervisor of Secondary English Language Development. We are thrilled to welcome her to the NASD community!

Prior to joining NASD, Mrs. Upchurch worked in the Bristol Township School District, where she served as a Middle School Language Arts and Language Learning Teacher, as well as a district-wide Instructional Coach. She also spent nine years coaching co-ed soccer at the middle school level and has coached Reading Olympics, continuously finding ways to give back beyond the classroom. Her diverse career path has provided her with a unique perspective on education. Before becoming a teacher, she worked as a Bank Teller and Operating Room Coordinator—roles that, she explains, helped shape her understanding of service, a fundamental aspect of education. She has a passion for whole-child development and values the gift diversity brings to learning communities. Her belief in every person’s ability to make a positive impact in society fuels the energy and optimism behind her work.

She now resides in Montgomeryville with her husband and three children. In her free time, Mrs. Upchurch enjoys traveling—particularly to Florida's beaches—and discovering new restaurants. She is an avid reader, with a particular interest in philosophy, psychology, and self-help literature. Mrs. Upchurch is committed to community service and enjoys volunteering in various capacities. And she is honored to serve the NASD community.

We are excited to have Mrs. Upchurch as part of our District Leadership Team. Welcome to NASD, Mrs. Upchurch!
