Ms. Nicole Melia joined Norristown Area School District this week as our new Director of Food Services. We are so excited to have her on our team and we are looking forward to the positive impact she will have on our district.
Before joining NASD, she was the Food Service Supervisor of the Great Valley School District in Malvern, Pennsylvania for 12 years. Nicole was responsible for the overall operation of the School Food and Nutrition Department with approximately 4,700 students in grades K-12 in the Great Valley Schools, as well as providing meals for private schools through the satellite meal program. She also ran the district’s robust farm-to-school program.
Ms. Melia has been working in school nutrition since 2009. She has been active in the School Nutrition Association of Pennsylvania (SNAPA) and on the SNAPA Board of Directors since 2013. She has served as the State President of SNAPA, Conference Chair, and is the current Public Policy and Legislative Chair. She also is a member of the Association of School Business Officials and the Pennsylvania Association of School Business Officials.
Ms. Melia received a Bachelor’s of Science degree and Masters of Science degree in Nutrition at West Chester University of Pennsylvania.
In September 2024, she was appointed to be on the Governor's Food Policy Council Advisory Board. She will be advising on things that affect school meals, how to expand school meals, and the effects of food insecurity in Pennsylvania. She is honored and excited to be doing this work.
Ms. Melia is excited to be a part of this community and is looking forward to highlighting all of the amazing work our food services team does everyday.
She lives in the Phoenixville area with her husband, daughter, and many pets. She enjoys spending time outside including kayaking, hiking, and rock climbing.
We are so excited to have Ms. Melia as a member of our District Leadership Team!
