(ES): Un agradecimiento especial a tres estudiantes de NASD, Aliyah A., Jasmine P. y Brianna A., quienes cantarán y bailarán en las escaleras del Museo de Arte de Filadelfia con el coro juvenil masivo durante el Desfile del Día de Acción de Gracias de 6ABC y Dunkin’.
(EN): Special shoutout to three NASD students, Aliyah A., Jasmine P., and Brianna A., who will be singing and dancing on the steps of the Philadelphia Art Museum with the mass youth choir during the 6ABC Dunkin’ Thanksgiving Day Parade.


The following students earned 5 PAWS and were rewarded on Tuesday, 11/21. Keep up the PAWTASTIC work.

Room 208 learned about weight and friction while learning about turkeys.

Students are having a blast coding in library class this week! Second grade used Strawbees to build a sailboat and all grades tried Matatalabs. It is fun to tinker and play around because it helps us understand how things work. We also learned perseverance and teamwork. We can't wait to build upon our new skills and see what we can do!

(ES): El viernes pasado, One Book One Norristown y NASD organizaron su evento final para 2023, una Celebración de las Artes y la Alfabetización, en la Escuela Primaria Marshall St.
La noche estuvo llena de oportunidades para que los estudiantes y los padres interactuaran con los artistas estudiantes de NASD, los autores locales (Tim Simmons, Lydia Cohen y Lucy Noland) y las organizaciones artísticas (Expressive Path y Theatre Horizon).
Grupos comunitarios locales como el Consejo de Alfabetización de Norristown, la Biblioteca Pública del Condado de Montgomery - Norristown, el Proyecto MontCo 30%, Héroe Comunitario y los Cub Scouts estuvieron presentes y regalaron libros y recursos gratuitos para las familias.

(EN): Last Friday, One Book One Norristown and NASD hosted its final event for 2023, a Celebration of Arts and Literacy, at Marshall St. Elementary.
The night was full of opportunities for students and parents to engage with NASD student performers, local authors (Tim Simmons, Lydia Cohen, and Lucy Noland), and art organizations (Expressive Path and Theatre Horizon).
Local community groups such as the Literacy Council of Norristown, Montgomery County - Norristown Public Library, MontCo 30% Project, Community Hero, and Cub Scouts were in attendance and gave away free books and resources for families.
Thank you to everyone who made this event a success!


For the month of November, all teachers and staff will be looking for students that demonstrate leadership.
On Monday, 11/20 one student from each grade was awarded the Golden Paw. Congratulations to our winners!


The following third grade students were given a certificate for a free meal at Applebees on 11/20 for being PAWSOME students…Keep up the PAWSOME work!

(ES): La semana pasada, los estudiantes de la Escuela Intermedia Blockson planearon, prepararon y cocinaron un banquete para sus familias. Hubo invitados especiales de las oficinas de los representantes Bradford y Scott, Miembros de la Junta Escolar, La Administración, el personal de la Escuela Intermedia Blockson, Sr. Rudolph Burruss (el esposo de la Profesora Sra. Flood y presidente de la región de PSEA ESP) y todas las familias de nuestros estudiantes. Gracias a todos los que hicieron de este evento un éxito. (EN): Last week, students at Blockson Middle School planned, prepared, and cooked a feast for their families. There were special guests from Representatives Bradford and Scott's offices, School Board Members, Administration, Blockson Middle School staff, Mrs. Flood's husband Rudolph Burruss PSEA ESP Region President, and all of our students' families. Thank you to everyone who made this event a success. Blockson is looking forward to their next event in December.

First graders have been busy in music class learning how to read and notate different rhythms that include one or two sounds in each beat (quarter notes and paired eighth notes). Can’t have more fun doing it than by writing them in popsicle sticks!








The 4th graders became engineers last week during SPARKS. They learned about electric circuits and made their own version of the game Operation.





Kindergarten students enjoyed cider, cinnamon, and stories last week during American Education Week.

Yesterday Mrs. Mulligan's 2nd Grade Class had three guest readers...two Norristown Area High School DECA students and a classroom volunteer.

During a SPARKS lesson students in Mrs. Taylor's class learned about circuits and which materials are conductors and which are insulators.






Tomorrow, Wednesday 11/15 is picture retake day. Picture retake day is for any student that was absent on or started after the original picture day (9/19) or for students that bought picture packages and are getting retakes.
