Whitehall Elementary School is located in West Norriton Township. Our school opened in September of 1992. We currently have over 500 students in kindergarten through fourth grade. We were named a Title 1 Distinguished School in 2019-2020, being awarded the Keystone Award for Academic Excellence from the state of Pennsylvania. We are very proud of our accomplishments and look forward to receiving additional recognition for our hard work and dedication in the field of education. Our goal is to provide a high quality education for all of our students, and to ensure they are working to their fullest potential while supporting them along the way. We offer General Education, English as a Second Language, Special Education, and Gifted programs. All of our programs are rigorous, inclusive, supportive, and engaging in the best interest of our students.

The Whitehall staff holds very high expectations for academics, social and emotional learning, and character education. We recognize the importance of bringing the community, parents and school together to share the responsibility for the education of our students. We provide a learning environment that utilizes all its resources to provide opportunities for student success. We are also committed to bringing together quality academics and arts programming that will enrich and enhance our students' experiences. We have a responsibility to take children from where they are and help them achieve beyond what they could have ever imagined. Students are supported through various systems, approaches, and data will drive the academic program. Our child-centered approach to teaching and learning, and the ongoing collaboration and professional development the staff is involved in, consistently supports our ongoing improvement and success. The entire Whitehall staff puts a great deal of effort into the first steps in preparing students for college and a career path.

Our local and extended partnerships are also important to us here at Whitehall. We are very fortunate to have received several grants to help enhance our academic programming. They provide the students with Arts in Education performances, trips to Riverbend Environmental Center, trips to the James Audubon Center, a Farm to Table grant provides every classroom with the opportunity to try out fresh fruits and vegetables three times a week, a Food Trust grant provides trips to farms and nutritional information for our students and families, a Respect Grant to support the teaching of character traits through literature, a Social and Emotional Learning Grant for classroom lessons, and the Norristown Rotary Club donates English & Spanish dictionaries for every third grade student to take home each year.

Our largest grant is for the S.P.A.R.K.S. Science Program, which is a division of Science Explorers. This wonderful and exciting program is funded by the AMETEK Foundation. Whitehall students in grades 1st thru 4th participate in hands-on and highly engaging monthly science experiments from spinning art, to learning about the digestive system, how bees pollinate, how to create a rainbow, the physical phenomenon of magnetism, states of matter, erupting a volcano, becoming a Paleontologist, and dissecting hammerhead sharks as Marine Biologists, just to name a few. The topics and experiments have been endless and so much fun for the students and staff!

We also provide the Art Goes to School program, No Place for Hate activities, Robotics, AAA Safety Patrol, Healthy NewsWorks, HeartyKids, Best Buddies, Winter and Spring concerts (featuring our chorus and instrumental programs), and Grade Level Performances throughout the year.

Parents, students and teachers are very proud of Whitehall’s caring, energetic, and engaging learning environment. If you would like to see Whitehall’s dynamic learning community in action, please call 610-630-6000 to schedule a visit.
