Dr. Detrick McGriff, Principal of NAHS

Dr. Detrick McGriff, Principal

Dr. McGriff is an educational leader working in the Norristown Area School District.  His career spans over 20 years and contains a diversity of experiences --educator to district level administrator--  that have allowed him to demonstrate what works in education. A panoramic view of education comes from having worked in several districts and capacities.  He specializes in using Technology, STEM, and Cultural Proficiency to impact organizational change. As a Servant Leader, Dr. McGriff deeply believes in the power of people and relationships to inspire change.

He takes great pride in having graduated from West Chester University where he attained a Bachelor of Science in Biology. Additionally, masters degrees in Curriculum & Instruction and Educational Leadership from Temple University promoted his educational career.  After a decade into his leadership practice, he pursued a Doctorate from Nova Southeastern University. A vision of purposeful inspiration is his tool to help educate communities to reach new levels of success.

Dr. McGriff is a proud father of two teenage children.  He enjoys sports, fitness, traveling, and motivational speaking.  He is committed to life-long learning and enjoys improving himself and those around him.

Nicole VanBuskirk, Assistant Principal

Nicole VanBuskirk joined the Norristown High School community in August of 2021 after spending 19 years in the School District of Philadelphia (SDP). In the SDP, she served as a teacher at Mastbaum Area Vocational Technical School and Central High School. During her tenure, she taught both English Literature and English as a Second Language, coached cheerleading, coordinated community service, led the Roster Office, and served as Assistant Principal.

Mrs. VanBuskirk is a graduate of Central High School in Philadelphia where she also served as a staff member. Nicole earned her bachelor's degree at Ursinus College and a masters degree at Cheyney University. She continued her education at Penn State University Abington campus where she earned an ESL Program Specialist certification.

Nicole is the proud wife of a Norristown Area High School graduate and a mother to her young son. She enjoys spending time with her family, traveling, and participating in outdoor activities.

James Troutman, Assistant Principal of NAHS

James Troutman, Assistant Principal

James Troutman has been a part of the Norristown Area School District since 2012, serving as a Special Education Teacher for nine years at Norristown Area High School. Also during that time, he worked as a teacher and administrator for the Norristown Adult Education Program, and served as Special Education Department Chair from 2018 - 2021. He holds his BS in Elementary and Special Education from the University of Scranton, Master of Education degree in Special Education / Universal Design for Learning from West Chester University, and Master of Education degree in Curriculum & Instruction / Principal Certification from Kutztown University. He is currently working on his Doctor of Education degree at Immaculata University. 

Mr. Troutman spent his childhood growing up in New York City, so that is to blame for his love of New York sports. The Philadelphia area has quickly earned the #2 spot in his heart. He also spends his time playing music. 

Conte

John Conte, Assistant Principal

John Conte joined the Norristown High School community in February of 2022 after spending 21 years in the Chester County Intermediate Unit.  Mr. Conte began his career in education in 2001 and has served in a variety of roles including a Math, Phys. Ed, Alternative, and Special Education teacher (MDS, Autistic Support, Emotional Support and Learning Support).  At the CCIU, he served as a special education/alternative education teacher, lead teacher and program coordinator at the Chester County Youth Center for 13 years.  He also spent his last 5 years at the Technical College High School (TCHS) as a learning support teacher.  

Mr. Conte has coached Wrestling at Garnet Valley High School for over 20 years.  He has led his teams to several League Titles (SCCL & Central) and has coached his teams to qualify for the Team State Championships.  Mr. Conte has coached & mentored many individual PA State medalists.  He has also volunteered with the Special Olympics.

Mr. Conte earned his Bachelor's & Masters Degree from Wilkes University.  He continued his education at Immaculata University where he earned his K-12 Educational Leadership/Principal Certification.  He is also a member of several professional educational organizations. 

Mr. Conte is excited to serve the Norristown Area School District.  He looks forward to working with the NASD students, families, community members, staff, and everyone that is involved in making this such a great community and district.   He is honored to be a member of this administration team at NASD and looks to build on the teamwork in the building along with having open communication for a sense of a shared vision & goal of preparing our students for their future.  

Mr. Conte currently resides with his wife, Holly, and their two daughters (Alexa & Ella) in Chester County.  He enjoys spending time with his family, traveling, all sports, and just being physically active.

Sandra Casimir

Ms. Sandra Casimir, Assistant Principal

Ms. Sandra Casimir joined the Norristown Area School District as the Assistant Principal for Norristown Area High School in June 2024. With an impressive career spanning nearly three decades in education, Ms. Casimir brings a wealth of experience, expertise, and unwavering dedication to her new role.

Ms. Casimir holds a Bachelor’s degree in Social Work, a Master’s degree in Education with K-6 certification, a Master’s degree in School Counseling with K-12 certification, and a Principal’s Certification. Her professional journey includes 26 years in the Philadelphia School District, where she served as a teacher, school counselor, behavior health counselor, and Assistant Principal. Additionally, she gained international experience working with the Department of Defense Educational Activities (DoDEA) for two years.

Beyond her professional achievements, Ms. Casimir is a proud Haitian who is actively involved in her community. She serves on several boards, is a Diamond Life member of Zeta Phi Beta Sorority, Inc., and enjoys volunteering, traveling, finding great bargains, and exploring diverse cuisines. Her greatest joy is being a mother to her talented daughter, Alexa.

Ms. Casimir is deeply committed to creating a nurturing and supportive learning environment for all scholars. She looks forward to collaborating with parents, guardians, teachers, administration, and staff to enhance, transform, and elevate the educational experiences at Norristown Area High School. Her goal is to ensure that every scholar receives the support they need and is inspired to reach their full potential.

Mr. Anthony Palladino, Athletic Director

Mr. Anthony Palladino, Athletic Director

Mr. Palladino joined the Norristown Area School District in April of 2014.  He began his career in public education in 1999 as a teacher at Reading High School.  In 2001 he became a member of the faculty and staff at Boyertown Area School District, serving as a Social Studies teacher for 4 years at Boyertown Junior High West before becoming the district's Athletic Director in the Summer of 2005.  In November of 2009, Mr. Palladino moved to the Phoenixville Area School District, where he served as the district's Director of Athletics and Student Activities, before coming to Norristown as Athletic Director.

Mr. Palladino attended Ursinus College, where he was on the Football and Track and Field teams, and received his Bachelor's degree in History upon graduation.  He also has a Master's Degree in Education from Wilkes University and a Master's Degree in Athletic Administration from California University of Pennsylvania.

In his free time, he enjoys spending time with his wife and five children and being an active participant in their activities.

Dr. Kyle Boyer, Dean of Students

Dr. Kyle Boyer, Dean of Students

Dr. Kyle J. Boyer has spent over a decade in education teaching both math and social studies at the middle and high school levels. He came to the Norristown Area School District in 2019 as a math teacher at Eisenhower Science and Technology Leadership Academy (ESTLA) until transitioning to the Dean of Students role at NAHS. 

Kyle has served his community through service on numerous boards, most prominently as an elected member of the Tredyffrin/Easttown Board of School Directors and past president of the West Chester, PA branch of the NAACP. He has utilized his work in and knowledge of schools to be a strong advocate for public education. 

Dr. Boyer is a graduate of George Washington University, the University of Pennsylvania, and United Lutheran Seminary. He also attended Immaculata University where he completed the administrative certification program.
